Summary
Question: Does the Interstate Commerce Commission have the power to determine a reasonable shipping rate outside the United States? Conclusion: Yes. In a per curiam opinion, the Supreme Court reversed the court of appeals. The Court held that the Interstate Commerce Act (ICA) authorizes the ICC to determine reasonable rates where a carrier has entered into a joint through international rate covering transportation in the United States and abroad. Consequently, the ICC had the authority to order reparations. Justice William O.
